2012: The List (Revisited)

I can’t believe we are almost a third of the way through 2012 already! Time is flying by and I have to admit…I was a bit afraid to revisit my 2012 List. There was so much I wanted to work on, dedicate myself to, and accomplish in 2012, but I feel like I have had absolutely no extra time to devote to new things. However, after going through my list again, I found myself pleasantly surprised at how much I have been actually working on! There are still major areas in which I am really falling behind, but I still have 2/3 of the year to get there, right? And working on some things is better than working on nothing…at least that is what I tell myself to sleep at night! So, let’s see where I am at…

2012: The List

  • Read more! For pleasure, for business, for growth. (I’m an epic failure on this one. I am such a reader at heart and there are so very many books I want to read, but I can never seem to find the time. I really need to start working on this, someone hold me accountable, pretty please!)
  • Be more adventurous in cooking homemade meals. (We are definitely eating out less. And I made myself a big girl dinner of salmon with pesto the other night! They may not seem like much of an accomplishment to you, but I have been terrified of making salmon for a while now and I totally rocked it! Yum! Next up, learn to incorporate some quinoa into my meals…)
  • Create a regular cleaning routine for the house. (Regular routine? Not so much. I have been trying to keep at it, but I could definitely use some improvement here…)
  • Create a consistent blogging work flow. (Yesssss, I AM getting there! I have been blogging 3x/week for a while now, and, as of last week, I upped it to 5x/week! What what!!! Andddd to top all that, I have finally started doing vlogs! I’m feeling super inspired. Let’s just hope I can keep it up and not burn out.)
  • Maintain organized book keeping and records for the new year. (Yes! I might be totally rocking this, I am even tracking my mileage!)
  • Book my set goal amount of weddings for 2012. (Ahhhh, this might be the best part of revisiting the list…because I did it! I even booked 3 more weddings OVER my goal for the year! And I just started booking for 2013! Yes, yes yes!!! I am feeling so good about this! I just hope I can double that number for 2013…eeeek!)
  • Blog submissions. (Well, I finally signed up for Two Bright Lights and have been organizing a couple things to submit, so that counts as working on it, right?)
  • Quiet time before bed. (No, definitely not. I’m noticing a trend here, that all the personal goals are being left in the dust…maybe I need to work on that whole ‘life balance’ thing.)
  • Keep up and follow through with my health routine. (No again. Ugh. I am at a point where I just don’t feel good about myself and I am sick of it. I miss feeling strong, kicking ass and taking names in spin class. So, this one is a biggie…I really need to focus on this going into the rest of the year.)
  • Create a financial plan for our future. (Ummm, no. Okay, looks like I know what we are doing next date night…)
  • Set financial goals for the future. (Okay, gotta get on this!)
  • Date nights! Regularly. (We started off good, scheduling these into our calendars…and then wedding season hit. So, things are kind of upside down and crazy right now, but I am determined to get these back on the books!)
  • Document our life, more! (Yes, I am doing better at this! And I am so happy that I am, I love having all our memories documented and sometimes blogged, to look back on.)
  • Create and maintain a morning routine (and in turn, a sleep routine.) Getting sufficient amounts of sleep, waking at a consistent time, and having productive mornings. (Nope. I’m failing in the take care of myself department…)
  • Make! Make things because I want to and I love it. (Not yet…)
  • Collaborate! Work with friends and colleagues to be creative and create. (It is in the works! Meeting with some colleagues tonight to talk about some fun projects to collaborate on, yay!)
  • Connect! Make time to connect with others, from colleagues and friends to family and my own spouse. (I am definitely trying, but if I am being honest…I could try harder.)
  • Push myself out of my comfort zone and towards great things. (Yes, I started vlogging! Way out of my comfort zone, but I am so happy I pushed myself because now I am loving it.)
  • Dream! Always. (Oh, yes! You can’t stop me!)

Okay, so maybe I need to really work on my personal goals and taking care of myself. I am loving my ‘can do!’ spirit and ‘say yes’ attitude when it comes to my business lately, but to keep it up, I think I need to start carving out some time to work on me! So, here’s to trying to get some of that whole ‘life balance’ thing!

Where are you at on your list or goals for 2012?

Girl…you are rocking it! Good for you for holding yourself accountable. Maybe I should take a hint. ;) Maybe…

Lauren - April 25, 2012 - 2:21 pm

I love that you are blogging often!

Mmmm quinoa. And can I just share a new to me salmon tip? We recently bought some cast iron pans (they are not expensive) and make salmon in that. Comes out so good, and it is very fast.

I don’t really have any big 2012 goals. I always have some running goals, to break my previous times and I’ve managed that three times so far this year. And I’m getting married, that’s pretty big. ;)

We can push each other, there are still some things I reallyyyy have to get on! :)

amandamegan - April 25, 2012 - 3:43 pm

Oooh, Lauren, I will have to go look at some cast iron pans. I love salmon, but for some reason have always been weirded out by making it, haha. But, now that I have conquered that irrational fear, I am ready to try it WAY more often! :)

Wow, you broke your running goals THREE times already?! That is awesome! And, yes, getting married is way big! :P

Love this! You are doing fabulous lady! And I’m loving you blogging 5x/week! Yeah! :) (And thanks for the reminder on tracking my mileage. I meant to do that and lost track!

Emilia Jane - April 25, 2012 - 3:59 pm

Yeah girl! This is quite the list. I am so impressed with your progressed and can’t wait to see as you keep growing! I can help with the books too if you’d like :-) I have a mountain to share for fun reading and business if you’re interested ;-)

amandamegan - April 25, 2012 - 5:06 pm

The thing is I have a mountain myself, of business and pleasure books that I am dying to read, I just can’t seem to stop myself to sit down and read them! :( Can you help me by tying me to a chair with a book? :P But, we should do book trades sometime too! :)
