Today’s vlog is about one of my favorite places in the world and a little tradition that hails from there. Lake Bled, Slovenia. Such an absolutely beautiful place! Bled is a town surrounded by amazingly lush mountains, with the most peaceful of lakes nestled in the middle of it. And in the middle of this lake is a teeny tiny island. Atop this tiny island, up 99 steps, is the most pretty little church. How lovely does that sound already, right? (Go here to see more of how wonderful Bled is!)

So, in my special place, Lake Bled, there is a local wedding tradition that I have heard a lot about over the years. It is a wedding day tradition that grooms must carry their brides all the way up those 99 steps to the church! Crazy! But so fun! And I just love love love that this local tradition is carried on through the years (by some people at least!).
(If you want to see some grooms who actually kept up the tradition, watch this or this!)
Lake Bled truly holds such a special place in my heart and, since that guy chickened out, I am determined to witness this tradition firsthand one day. And to have an opportunity to document it and photograph a wedding there would make my heart absolutely sing! Oh, to dream!
So, what traditions do you love? Even if you don’t practice it, is there a tradition you think is super cool, cute, or fun? Tell me, tell me!

What a beautiful place…and such a fun tradition
Well fun for the bride I guess? Though honestly I’d probably be scared to be carried and rather walk! Haha
That photo is unbelievable. How is that place even real? And I hope the groom can wear plain clothes and change into his tux at the top! haha James would be sweating!
Also – yay for putting your dreams out there! Now somebody watch this – and hire you – now!
I was just going to say, are you kidding me with that picture?! Stunning!!!! I need to add this to my list of “places to visit”!!!
Haha, all the videos I have seen, they are both in full wedding garb! And it is ROUGH for some of them…guests are like, “You’re almost there, you can do it!” LOL.
And yesssss, someone pretty please watch this and hire me!
