A Special Delivery

Okay, I guess I can’t keep the blog in the dark any longer…if you haven’t heard (via facebook or twitter), we are officially expanding our family!!! We have been talking about this for quite some time and then, just a few weeks ago, we decided that ready or not we were going to do it!

So, we did! A couple Saturdays ago, I came home from shooting Mary and Cesar’s wonderful wedding (hitting the blog, soon!) to wait for our special delivery. As we waited, I tried to eat a quick salad for dinner, bouncing in my chair at the kitchen table, but as I kept telling K, I was just too excited to eat! I couldn’t help but watch the clock, knowing any minute, the door bell would ring, announcing the arrival of our new baby. But in my excitement, I spotted our little (or not so little) guy being carried up the path from the front window of our home, before they even made it to the door. I threw open the door and shouted, “He’s here, he’s here!”

And there he was, our new baby! Blog meet Doppler, the super furry, super chill, and super adorable goldendoodle that has stolen my heart. Yes, yes, Doppler is his name. As in a doppler radar system and a nod to the spouse’s infatuation with all things weather related. Hey, I got away with naming our border collie Maybe (Arrested Development fans, represent!), so I had to throw a figurative bone K’s way this time.

I looked a hot mess after coming home from shooting a wedding and by the time of the evening the breeders (the super sweet and ever helpful goldendoodle breeders) arrived with our new pup, but I didn’t care…I was too excited not to document the first precious moments!

If you haven’t noticed….our puppy is a big boy! Almost 30 pounds at 5 months old! And check out those paws!

For the first day or so, Doppler was attached to my hip and didn’t really want anything to do with Maybe, but boy, was she determined to get his attention!

Cut to them just yesterday, laying together in my office, as I worked….

Yeah, they’re totally buds now. (Well, except for when I am convinced Maybe just thinks she got a new toy and pulls him around by his big floppy ears…)

Maybe even taught him how to go up and down the slippery wood stairs! She was a very good teacher! When Doppler felt scared and would cry at the top of the stairs, afraid to go down, she would go back up to keep him company and help him down. Totally cute, right?!

We even had a family slumber party on the living room floor the night he came, because I couldn’t deny his cute and scared little face at the prospect of being left alone on his first night.

After about a week and a half with our new pup, I still couldn’t be happier. He is my little mama’s boy and I love every minute of it! And you can definitely expect the adventures of our furry family to make more appearances on the blog soon!
