Engagement Session: Shirley & Mason

I waited for Shirley & Mason in a tiny cafe under the train in Hyde Park, a cafe so tiny and nondescript that you could easily miss it, but this wasn’t just any cafe. This cafe was the very place that Shirley & Mason met five years ago! This was were it all started, with Shirley working behind the counter and Mason living across the street, making countless regular visits to the cafe. After noticing each other for some time, they bumped into each other in front of the nearby book store and decided to just go for it and exchange phone numbers.

Fast forward to 5 years later…Shirley & Mason are now engaged(!) and living in California together! And they spent the evening of their 5 year anniversary exploring their old Hyde Park stomping grounds with me for their engagement session!

Getting to hear them reminisce, thinking back to all those special moments when they met and all the special places they would go, was such a wonderful way to get to know them. And unintentionally, during our session, we almost physically walked through both their ‘how we met’ story and their very first date spots. So cute!

They are just too adorable!

And granted it was a brisk day, Spring has officially sprung in Chicago, so we had to take advantage of all the pretty trees!

Mason knew just what to say to make Shirley laugh…

Love this look between them!

One of my favorites…

Shirley & Mason, it was such an honor to spend your anniversary with you, documenting where you guys first started and where you are going in the future…to be married!  I absolutely cannot wait until your wedding!!!

Amanda, love these! The story makes it even cuter, but I love the vibrant color, especially the ones in front of the red bricks/brick house. Very sweet.
