Yes, yes…we have a tendency to be those people who treat their dogs like kids, I guess I will have to admit that now. Because when I woke up on Sunday morning, I looked out our bedroom window, overlooking our back yard, to see a couple dozen colorful eggs speckling the lawn! I turned to the smirking spouse and asked, “For me?!” I was kind of excited about what treasures those eggs might hold, maybe some new Mac eye shadows or some yummy marshmallow treats or even a Cartier love bracelet….oh, you shush, a girl can dream! But she just laughed at me and shook her head. Apparently, the Easter bunny had left this delightful surprise for the puppies! Yes, the puppies!
K had filled the colorful eggs with assorted treats for the pups to sniff out and they went to town! Maybe figured out how to pop those eggs open to get to the treats right away, while Doppler spent ages, pacing around, trying to ‘hide’ each egg he found.
(Just pretend our lawn and yard is lush, green, and beautiful, okay? New puppies wreak havoc on your lawn and since we moved in near the end of summer last year, beautifying the yard was slotted for this year. Let’s just hope Doppler stops trying to dig holes to China all over the yard!)
Eventually, Doppler went with the crunch the egg up method to try to get to the goods and when that didn’t work, he would just follow Maybe around trying to get any scraps she may have missed, but no such luck buddy!
It was such a fun and silly way to spend our Sunday morning and so what if we treat our dogs as our furry children, it is super fun! And it makes me so very excited for the future, because I can only imagine all the silly games and things that K will surprise our future children with. It is going to be a blast!
So, here’s to happy kids….whether yours are furry or not!
