Technical Difficulties and Forced Breaks

Most of the time, technology is my best friend, but sometimes when my work depends on it and it just won’t work, it can be my worst enemy…like today! Our internet has been out for about a day and I have been freaking out. Okay, I know that that may not seem like very long to most people, but for me…it is a big deal. Like want to pull my hair out and scream kind of big deal. But, as much as I was unbelievably frustrated last night that I couldn’t get today’s vlog prepped, uploaded, and posted…I gave in. I gave in to the forced break.

Because, if I am being honest…I didn’t actually take a break on the 4th of July! I know I said I was…and I swear that I tried! I got up super early to get as much work done as humanly possible, so I could go hang with my family in the afternoon, but after a few hours, I began to feel guilty. Guilty for not getting back to work. So, it wasn’t long before we were headed home so I could set up shop in front of the computer yet again (and not to mention, take care of our terrified puppy during the fireworks). We popped outside for about 5 minutes, literally, to check out the fireworks, but that was about it. I was glued to the computer, working past midnight, yet again. And really, it’s okay. Because I truly love what I do!  And I absolutely love to make people happy with their beautiful images!

It is just that sometimes, I need to learn to shut that ‘work, work, work’ part of me down, (which isn’t the easiest thing to do when you seriously LOVE your job!). So, when technology isn’t on my side and I am physically forced to take a break…I might as well just give in. What else can I do? I really do need those forced breaks for my sanity…and if the only way I can manage to get them is by Comcast service interruptions, I guess I should embrace them.

So, embrace it, I did! And I have to say, my head is a lot clearer this morning because of it! I needed that…I needed to watch a movie just because, I needed to spend some time just talking with my spouse without interruptions, I needed to go to bed early because I could. So, thank you Comcast for determining when I am due for a break! (But, mostly thank you for fixing my internet service this afternoon, so I don’t have to pull anymore hair out!)

Sometimes it takes the world telling us to take a break to actually do it :-) I’m glad you heeded the universe! XXOO

Seriously. The universe was telling you to take a break! It actually helps your productivity SO MUCH! So make sure you keep doing it! :)
