While We Still Can…

Well, this might be it. Our last vacation or getaway without a little one in tow! Eek! Granted, we are not going far, just to Michigan for the weekend. And let’s be honest…it’s not really all vacation. I do have a wedding in Michigan on Saturday, but months ago when I was looking at the calendar and realized the rest of this weekend was open, I jumped on the chance to make it count and reserved a perfect little cabin for us. I’m truly a traveler at heart, I have been traveling my whole life. Not a year goes by that I haven’t been on a plane to Europe or NYC or Texas or somewhere! And suddenly, I am realizing just how much that may change in a few months! You can’t just curb check your baby and go for some pre-flight mimosas, it doesn’t work like that. So, again I am faced with the reality that my life is about to change…big time!

But until then, I’m going to make the most of it! Just our little family of 2. (Okay, 4 if you count the furry ones.) And though we may only be driving an hour and half away, it’s still appeases my itch to get away. Some of my favorite times have been the little weekend adventures me and the spouse have had together, even if I have to bribe her just to leave the state. This weekend’s bribe…it’s a woodsy cabin adventure and not a suite at the Waldorf Astoria. And to sweeten the deal, the pups are actually coming with us!

So, the pups and I are making sure all my gear is packed (since this weekend is both work AND play) and will be anxiously awaiting the spouse’s arrival home to jump in the car and get this weekend started! I can’t wait! As long as it doesn’t rain during my couple’s bound to beautiful outdoor ceremony on Saturday, I wouldn’t even care if it rained the whole rest of the time, keeping us confined to our cozy cabin. That sounds just perfect to me too! So, while we still can get up and go at the drop of a hat, we are! And to soak up as much pre-baby fun as we can, we are making it a long weekend and taking Monday off! We’re living large here, I tell ya! The blog and I will be back Tuesday!
